KidZania to host festive ‘Wintertainment’ programme for children with themed activities

KidZania, the children's city in The Dubai Mall, has unveiled a month-long calendar of festivities that brings together children from across the region in a colourful celebration of teamwork and creativity.

Under the umbrella of its new 'Wintertainment' programme, scheduled to be an annual feature, KidZania will wear a celebratory look and host a range of exciting activities to celebrate winter festivities including National Day, Festive Season and New Year's Eve. Each festival will be celebrated with a rich calendar of specially themed activities. KidZania, the first of its kind edutainment concept in the Middle East, will host the festival till New Year's Eve.

The run-up to 'Wintertainment' has already begun with school students in the region invited to take part in the festival activities including greeting card designs. The cards will be displayed throughout the 'Wintertainment' season across KidZania.

During UAE National Day on December 2, young visitors to KidZania can take part in activities such as painting a house with Arabic motifs and themes, creating special fragrances, participating in a street parade with Arabic music, enjoying the UAE National dance, henna painting, participating in traditional Arabic dress fashion show, Arabian Nights story-telling sessions, announcing UAE National Day programmes on the Radio Station and preparing a local Arabic delicacy at the culinary school. KidZania will be decorated with UAE flags and festoons to celebrate the cheer associated with National Day.

KidZania will celebrate the Festive Season with several activities. Visitors to the Newspaper establishment can interview others to understand their views on the winter season. There will be story-telling sessions of Santa Claus on radio; kids can share gifts; they can participate in festive songs during the parade and also display special seasonal costumes at the fashion show and much more.

As for the New Year, the city will be decorated with New Year's resolutions written by the children. They can participate in the New Year parade and celebrate the start of a new year with KidZania's mascots, Urbano, Vita and Bache.

Will Edwards, Governor, KidZania Dubai, said the children's city aims to instill the values associated with the festivities in young minds through the 'Wintertainment' programme. "The themed activities at KidZania will underscore the spirit of togetherness and solidarity that mark all festivals. They will also serve as bonding sessions for all family members in addition to enhancing the participants' awareness on the region's culture, history and lifestyle."

KidZania, managed by Emaar Retail LLC, is the first of its kind edutainment concept in the entire region, and offers children the opportunity to understand and appreciate different professions through a hands-on approach. The leisure attraction is located on the second floor of The Dubai Mall.
