The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has appointed Iraqi singer Kathem El Saher as a Goodwill Ambassador in Iraq. The official pages for Kathem and the production company ‘Rotana’ on the social network Facebook posted that Kathem will be the first Iraqi person to be appointed for such a position and the first Goodwill Ambassador in Iraq.
Kathem will take on the responsibilities of UNICEF in Iraq which concentrate on working for children’s rights, their survival, development and protection.
On a different note, Kathem is placing the final touches on his new operetta “Bukra” (Tomorrow), which will feature a performance by a number of prominent Arab singers like Lebanese diva Majeda Al Roumi, UAE singer Hussein Al Jasmi, Lebanese signer Carol Samaha and prominent Syrian singer Mayadah Al Hinawi. The song discusses peace and unity of religions.
