Syrian warplanes raided on Monday the outskirts of the border town of Arsal in northern Bekaa with several rockets.

The National News Agency reported that the area of Wadi Hmeid on the outskirts of Arsal was targeted with four rockets.

Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) said that the Syrian regime hit the areas of al-Ajram and Wadi al-Zaarour with six rockets.

The radio station said that the warplanes targeted Syrian opposition groups.

The mountainous area has long been a smuggling haven, with multiple routes into Syria that have been used since the conflict began in March 2011 to transport weapons and fighters.
