President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas attended the funeral of the former president of Israel Shimon Peres in the end. He faced criticism for going, but what really ticked some people off was Abbas seen crying in front of the whole world at Friday’s service in Jerusalem. Abbas was attacked on Twitter for this, in both English and Arabic.
Some pointed out that Abbas seemed to be one of the few crying, which is perplexing given the plethora of Israelis at the funeral, who one would expect had greater connections to Peres.
Yooooooo lmao how he the only one crying? I can't fucking stand Abbas https://t.co/YF1rfulwcA
Abbas was hammered in Arabic too, as he was criticized for showing such despair over the passing of an Israeli, given the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.

Mahmoud Abbas crying at the funeral of the child killer Shimon Peres and embraces his widow. What will history say about this low?

When I saw Mahmoud Abbas crying over Shimon Peres I remembered Hiter’s saying: the meanest people are those who help me occupy their country!
Many simply joked on the matter.
Abbas is either crying, or just remembered he left the stove on https://t.co/TX3FtJpWb6
Criticisms aside, without any reporting how often Abbas cries, can people really criticize him?
