An article in The New Arab claims that Jordana Cutler-formerly chief of staff at the Israeli embassy in Washington, DC-will join Facebook as head of policy and communication. She will help Facebook cooperate with the Israeli government to take measures to limit the actions of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which aims to end support for the Jewish state.
The move was applauded by some Israeli government officials. “There will now be a real price to pay for someone working...to isolate (Israel) from the rest of the world,” said Gilad Erdan-Israel’s head of public security-to Israeli media. “There has been an advance in dialogue between the state of Israel and Facebook.”
Many around the world consider BDS a legitimate and peaceful movement in support of Palestinian rights.
However, others-including some known critics of Israel like Noam Chomsky-have criticized the movement, saying it aims to destroy Israel.
