A recently-shared video circulating on the social media for the past two days reignited controversy and accusations of pedophilia against the Canadian rapper and actor, Drake.
A disturbing video of an incident occurred during one of Drake’s concerts in 2010 in Denver, Colorado has emerged on social media this weekend. It shows Drake kissing and touching a 17-year-old fan who was reportedly brought up on stage.
In the video, Drake, who was 23 years old then, slow-dances with the girl before starting to kiss her shoulder and hug her from behind.
He was heard saying: "I get in trouble for s--t like this,” before asking the fan: “How old are you?”.
“Seventeen”, she replies and then he says: “I can't go to jail yet, man”, as the age of sexual consent in Colorado is 17. "Seventeen? How do you look like that? You thick. Look at all this."
The video did not take too long to go viral. Twitter users immediately went to criticize and widely condemn Drake for his inappropriate behaviour.
Twitter users said accusations against Drake should start to be taken seriously as this is not the first time he creates controversy over relationships with young girls.
The video brought back to mind the 2017 allegations when 14-year-old Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown confirmed she is having a “close friendship” with him. Also in 2018, Drake reportedly went on a dinner date two years earlier with 18-year-old model Bella Harris who was then 16.
Wide condemnation was expressed across social media, with many calling him out and launching boycotts against Drake.
On the other hand, some people went to call the incident “not a big deal” as the age of consent in Colorado is 17, which puts him in safe situation.
