This week brought more bad news for the Iraqi city of Ramadi, where Daesh militants carried out a fierce offensive that ended with the takeover of the Anbar province capital. Iraq deployed all options for this fight, from local security forces to Shiite militias.
By Sunday night, international news outlets were reporting the city's total takeover by the militants, and a frantic exodus by the Iraqi army and security personal. This video purports to show just that. As Iraqi cities continue to fall to Daesh, videos like this have been surfacing on chatrooms and YouTube channels since last July, when the group made their first moves into northern Iraq. Here's the footage of Ramadi, which has since been largely removed from YouTube, courtesy of the Guardian.
