Tunisia, the host of the 30th Arab League Summit, has been preparing to welcome around 6,000 delegates from 21 countries in the region.
Among the first to announce their presence in the summit to be held on March 31 was Saudi Arabia’s King, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
However, he seemed to get a different and the warmest welcome compared to other leaders.
Tunisian activists have been angered after noticing billboards across the country with photos of King Salman and welcoming words beside it.
Photos of the billboards were shared on social media raising the probability that Saudi Arabia has paid for it.
Translation: "Saudi Arabia buys billboards in Tunisia to post welcoming posters of King Salman ahead of the Arab League Summit. Seems like Saudi Arabia this time is worried to face a similar welcoming to MBS' one earlier. Posters have angered many Tunisians who demanded the municipality remove it."
This comes at a time when Saudi Arabia has been facing a worldwide backlash due to its human rights record and the crackdown on activists and freedoms, in addition to the policies of its de-facto power, Crown Prince bin Salman, aka MBS.
Earlier in last November and in the wake of the killing of Saudi journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, Tunisians, the freedom and democracy model in the Middle East, went to streets to protest a visit of MBS as standing up for Khashoggi and all journalists around the world.
