Abu Dhabi, UAE. – 17th March 2010 – Abu Dhabi University, one of the leading local private higher education providers in the UAE, and the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, an independent agency of the Government of Abu Dhabi, have unveiled the ‘Abu Dhabi Forum on Entrepreneurship’ in order to strengthen the UAE’s burgeoning small and medium enterprises.
Entitled ‘Transforming Today’s Ideas into Tomorrow’s Success for a More Entrepreneurial Abu Dhabi’, the forum is the second event under the Leadership Series, a series of events significant in the development of a diversified modern economy and reflects the objectives of the Abu Dhabi 2030 Economic Vision. Following the success of the Abu Dhabi Innovation Forum, the event is meant to provide a platform that will help develop young entrepreneurs as well as drive innovation in new and established businesses in the country.
The event, which is scheduled to take place on April 12th-13th, 2010 at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, takes into account a study conducted by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor which classified the UAE as among innovation-driven economies with a 38 per cent increase in start-up businesses.

We are here to assist aspiring entrepreneurs in starting up from the costs to the risks making their business ideas a reality. Our partnership with the Abu Dhabi University allows us to bring various opportunities through best practice sharing and networking in events such as this,” His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Khalil Al Mutawa, Chief Executive Officer, Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development commented.
The two-day forum, organised by Aim Events, Abu Dhabi University’s Events Management Division, will gather business and government policy makers and entrepreneurial experts to tackle important issues on innovation and entrepreneurship issues that are important to the region.
“Entrepreneurs are the foundation of our culture and among the most celebrated of our citizens. Becoming an entrepreneur requires ambition and a need to combine various input factors in an innovative manner to generate value in their future ventures. This forum is a logical continuation of the Leadership Series where some of the best entrepreneurial minds will discuss may insightful key points to understand the needs in creating a more entrepreneurial Abu Dhabi and the UAE,” said His Excellency Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of Abu Dhabi University.
The forum will be present thorough research programmes responding to the toughest questions from the young minds of budding entrepreneurs and future business owners. Among the topics to be examined are the Entrepreneurship in the Emirates, creating the entrepreneurial spirit and setting the scene for Abu Dhabi as the Entrepreneurial Hub, the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs and new business ventures and creating a company in times of global recession.
There will also be best practices from Singapore highlighting how to attract high value investment and the central role of low taxation among others. Practical case studies from local companies such as Forsa UAE and the Shelter UAE wherein the spirit of entrepreneurship and its challenges along with the journey of young Emirati entrepreneurs will be presented. An Entrepreneurship Masterclass presented by the Director of Institute for Executive Development (IED) will also be held during the second day of the forum.
