Etihad Airways’ innovative loyalty programme, Etihad Guest, has won two awards at the prestigious Inside Flyer magazine “Freddies”, which recognises the airline industry’s best frequent flyer programmes.
The Etihad Guest programme won a “special recognition industry impact” award less than one year after its launch and the “best website” award for Europe, Middle East and Africa, as well as being nominated in four other categories.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive, said: “The Etihad Guest programme has been phenomenally successful since its launch in August 2006 having gained more than 120,000 members and now winning these two prestigious awards. Etihad continues to offer its customers the very best service whether it is in our state-of-the-art aircraft, our expanding network of destinations and our innovative loyalty programme”
The awards ceremony took place in Virginia, USA, with approximately 450,000 award votes submitted from members of travel loyalty programmes from across the world.
Etihad Guest members can use the convenient slider to choose how much cash, if any, or conversely exactly how many miles they wish to use for a particular reward.
It also allows members to see the exact value of each mile they use for a reward, therefore providing them with total flexibility and the best possible value for their miles.
Randy Petersen, the Editor of Inside Flyer magazine, said: “Etihad launched a new frequent flyer programme with one of the most unique approaches to award redemption I have ever seen, and the slider tool is very deserving of an “industry impact” award.”
Etihad Guest was also nominated in four other categories including “best elite level”, “best customer service”, “best affinity credit card”, and “best member communications” in which the airline gained second place.
