ALBAWABA - As protests storm the streets of Islamabad, government officials reported that at least 4 security personnel were killed at the hands of protestors.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said in a statement the members of the paramilitary Rangers force were "killed in the attack" by protesters who took the streets of central Islamabad demanding the release of former prime minister Imran Khan.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that "miscreants" participated in the protest and killed four soldiers of the paramilitary Rangers group on a city roadway leading to the government sector.
On Tuesday afternoon, more than ten thousand protestors armed with clubs and slingshots clashed with police in central Islamabad, fewer than three kilometers from the government enclave they intend to occupy, according to AFP journalists.
Khan was forbidden from running in the February elections, which were marred by suspicions of cheating, and was sidelined by dozens of legal issues that he believes were fabricated to prevent his return.
