Morocco will mark on Tuesday the 46th anniversary of the creation of the Royal Armed Forces.

Back in May 14, 1956, the late King Mohammed V, grand father of King Mohammed VI, entrusted his son, the late King Hassan II (then Crown Prince), father of King Mohammed VI, with creating Moroccan armed forces to defend the Moroccan Kingdom and guarantee its sovereignty.

That date will remain a landmark one in Morocco's modern history, as it marks the birth of a modern army, according to Maghreb Arabe Presse.

King Mohammed VI is Head of the Royal Armed Forces General Staff and under his leadership, the Armed Forces gained the reputation of an “exemplary training school of the virtues of courage, self-denial and solidarity”. (Albawaba.com)
