An estimated 5,000 Palestinians left the West Bank Sunday and crossed the Allenby bridge into Jordan on their way to Mecca in the Saudi Kingdom for the annual Hajj pilgrimage, AFP cited a statement from the Israeli civil administration.
"The pilgrims' trip was made possible, despite a tense security situation, thanks to close cooperation between the Israeli and Palestinian liaison committees," the statement said.
Another 5,000 Palestinian pilgrims passed through the Rafah border post between the southern Gaza Strip and Egypt over the past couple of days to go on the Muslim pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, the statement added. (Albawaba.com)
