Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday that he is prepared to coordinate fully with Israel during its withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in the summer, but added the PA was still seeking clarification on the extent of Israel's pullback from the territories.
Abbas made these remarks after a meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. "I confirmed with President Mubarak... that we are ready to coordinate with the Israelis completely," Abbas said. "But we have to know where our feet are taking us, and whether [the disengagement] is tied to the road map, and whether they are complete withdrawals."
According to The AP, Abbas said he still wants assurances that the Israeli withdrawal is part of the internationally-brokered road map to Middle East peace.
