US President Donald Trump will meet with Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan next week in Washington, the White House announced on Tuesday.
The meeting on May 15 with the prince, who is also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE's armed forces, will help deepen US cooperation with a key Middle East ally, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said.
The meeting will take place ahead of the US president's first foreign trip, which will kick off in Saudi Arabia.
Trump announced last week that his first foreign trip as president will include stops in Saudi Arabia, Israel and the Vatican - the spiritual centers of Islam, Judaism and Catholicism.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday appeared to suggest that the US president may also visit the West Bank, saying that he expected Trump to travel to the occupied territories "soon."
