Having made the bold shift away from manufacturing to customer-centric solutions in 2000, Acer has announced that a further strategic shift will be pursued from Q1 2007, with the company taking a new three-pronged strategic approach in the Middle East and global markets.
Focusing on three core macro areas – Mobility, Enterprise and Convergence – Acer suggests that as the PC world comes under an ever increasing need for transformation, the company’s three identified areas will appeal and drive most consumers, corporate clients and their future needs.
“Acer’s pursuit of innovation and constant attention to changes in customer needs has brought us to where we are today, and it continues to define the products and solutions customers will look for in the future,” said Krishna Murthy, General Manager, Acer Computer Middle East Ltd.
With traditional mobility solutions typically referring to notebooks and PDAs, the technology – to date – had only been refined through the likes of increasing battery power or the making the unit lighter in weight; however, the area has not been redefined. In 2007 and the coming years, this is set to change with new technology, ultra mobile devices and wireless connectivity driving the need for new applications and solutions.
Going forward, the world of enterprise solutions shows that security and manageability are now the key concerns for corporates and Acer has moved to address issues related to server consolidation so as to provide greater security and easy to manage storage giving greater flexibility to integrate different systems and functions.
Convergence, or digital convergence, is the current buzz word in IT and will continue to do so as products offering management of multi-media content from different sources proliferate. With web-based content looking to take a lead in home entertainment, Acer aims to become a major player in this new market while maintaining its long-held commitment to be the first to offer the customer the latest technology at the earliest possible time.
Long known for its portfolio of PC products, Acer’s push into LCD TV and monitor markets is a key demonstration of new convergence trends effecting how the company has pre-empted and is moving with market demand.
“Acer’s commitment to break down the barriers between people and technology has always been a key driver in how we create the existing and new technologies and our new strategic focus will enable us to keep fluid and help direct the latest market and product trends,” added Murthy.
