The third quarter 2007 was extremely positive for Acer, as the company reclaims the third position of the worldwide PC market, with a market share of 8.1%.

The analyst firm Gartner recorded a global PC market growth of 14.4% on a yearly basis. In particular, the Asia/Pacific and the EMEA markets were the liveliest geographical areas, with a growth of 23.4 and 16.4% respectively.

In this context, Acer stands out as the fastest-growing company. Over the period from July to September, Acer recorded an impressive 58% growth rate, more than 4 times the market itself. This excellent result – unique within the PC Industry – allowed Acer jump to third place in the global PC market.

Gartner, commenting on the recent acquisition process, states that this strategy will allow Acer to further extend its lead over its direct competitors in the coming months.

“These results do not come as a surprise. Our new focus on distinct, functional design, the introduction of new technologies and the coherence of our business model boosted sales in those areas where our leadership is consolidated” comments Gianfranco Lanci, President, Acer Inc. “Thanks to the synergies we are implementing with Gateway, we will achieve a more balanced revenue posture in 2008 and launch a more complete range of solutions for our users.”
