The Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF), yesterday announced the opening of the Children’s Art Tent at the Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort (AWPR). This fun-filled, arts and educational event, which will run between 19 and 26 February 2010, will bring children of all ages together to express themselves freely through art and creativity.

Over the course of eight days, ADMAF’s Children’s Art Tent at AWPR will provide a venue for families to visit together to experience the beauty and joy of creating artistic works. Children sit with siblings, parents, and grandparents, learning new skills in clay, paints, printmaking and sculpture, under the expert guidance of teacher Linda Bastian and her team of art instructors.

Her .Excellency Hoda Al-Khamis Kanoo, Founder and Artistic Director of the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation, observed: “The delight on children’s faces as they discover the joy of painting and creating their own personal work of art, is a source of great joy to me”.

The Children’s Art Tent, which is being held for the first time in the UAE at the Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort, is a place where generations share inspiration. “It is where we can pass our deep cultural legacy of art to the next generation by instilling in them a passion for creativity, which will translate into an appreciation of other great art as they grow older. In this way, the program, has been initiated for the children of Al Ain and the surrounding Emirates, represents one of ADMAF’s core missions – the education and inspiration of children of all ages,” Kanoo added.

In association with the organizer and supporter ADMAF, Linda Bastian will act as lead instructor at the event. She has developed a full program designed to stimulate interest and awareness in culture.  The program of events will include building 3-D forms from papier-mâché, clay, Styrofoam and even cans. Exploring different two-dimensional techniques, the teachers will demonstrate to the children how to create artworks using tempera paints, watercolours, craypass, collage techniques, and found objects.

The Children’s Art Tent will be open between 1pm and 7pm on Friday 19 and Saturday 20th February for all public, between 9am and 12pm for schools and between 3 and 7pm for all public from Sunday 21st to Thursday 25th February. The Art Exhibition on Friday 26th February will be held from 3pm to 7pm. Upon presentation of an official printed invitation, the entrance to the Art Tent and to the Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort is free for two children up to 12 years old accompanied by two adults. AWPR’s Dinosaur Trail admission is not included in this special offer. Children are welcome to take their artwork home to display, or present as a gift to a family member.
