The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) announced recently that the Friday Abdali Popular Market is to resume operation , as usual, as of next Friday, following the adoption of organizational, environmental , and traffic procedures, in addition to removing some irregular practices.
GAM, in coordination with the Capital Governor, has previously closed the Market, temporarily, for two weeks, as a standing procedure, for the purpose of activating it, to secure the continuity of its activities, and to give it a civilized outlook.
Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani instructed the concerned departments at GAM to expedite the necessary procedures to guarantee the continuity of operation in the Market which enjoys a great interest on the part of the Municipality, owing to the importance of its location in the city center, and for the fact that it is heavily frequented by citizens and tourists as a comprehensive market (commodities, supplies, souvenirs, and gifts), addressing all classes of the community.
Through the popular markets, GAM aims at providing commodities and services, and organizes their work systems to limit the random sale phenomenon, to maintain general cleanliness, and to eliminate impediments in the streets and sidewalks.
