Palestinians attacked the "Karni Crossing" between Israel and the central Gaza Strip late Thursday night, killing three Israelis and wounding at least 12 others.

According to Israeli reports, two activists detonated a 150-kilogram bomb adjacent to a wall between the Israeli and Palestinian sides of the commercial terminal at 10:50 P.M. [local time] then entered the Israeli side and detonated their explosive belts. Other Palestinians subsequently opened fire on Israeli personnel at the crossing with mortars and light arms.

Two of the wounded Israelis were in serious condition and two more were in moderate condition, according to ambulance teams. The two Palestinian suicide bombers were also killed in the assault. Ambulance teams evacuated five casualties in armored ambulances but heavy exchanges of gunfire between Palestinians and Israeli troops prevented further evacuations.

The Fatah Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades as well as Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.
