Al Bustan Centre & Residence, the deluxe hotel apartments which offer world-class services and facilities in the heart of Dubai, observed Earth Hour, the global energy-saving initiative organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) recently.

During the Earth Hour unnecessary lights around the property’s complex were switched off and shopping mall tenants, staff and guests participated by gathering outside the lobby area of the property to hold a candle light ceremony between 8:30pm to 9:30pm. The event is observed all over the world to encourage businesses, communities and individuals to take simple steps towards reducing the harmful effects of global warming.

Moussa El Hayek, Chief Operating Officer of Al Bustan Centre & Residence said: “We have always believed that taking small steps goes a long way towards bringing about positive changes in the long run. And as global warming is a serious concern that affects each of us, we need to show we truly care by observing the occasion. Inculcating energy saving habits in children and taking energy-friendly steps will greatly contribute towards a greener planet. We are very happy that several of our guests participated also in the candle light ceremony and showed their support towards this important issue.”

All those who took part appreciated the property’s participation in the WWF initiative, saying it will help build up awareness on urgent environmental issues that need to be addressed. As Dubai residents are said to be one of the biggest energy consumers, an hour less of light at the property meant an hour less of electricity consumption. Observed annually, Earth Hour is a global call to take action on climate change.
