al fara’a construction group hosts seminar on aids at le grand château construction site

Seminar aims at increasing labourers’ knowledge through collaboration with Dubai Police, UNICEF and PCLA

Al Fara'a Construction Group, a leading fully integrated construction services company, announced that it has recently hosted an intensive AIDS awareness presentation at the Le Grand Château construction site in Jumeirah Village. This is in line with the developer’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, which focuses on addressing global health related issues through alliances with relevant government and international institutions. Organised in collaboration with the Dubai Police, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs (PCLA), the seminar disseminated preventive information regarding AIDS and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) to over 150 labourers at the site.

The seminar was highlighted by a lecture delivered by Dr. Anjali Gupta, Head of Section, Specialist Pathologist, Dubai Police, who discussed up-to-date AIDS and HIV facts and figures such as its alarming growth rate all over the world, its origin, how it can be transferred and how awareness can be the most effective protection against the virus. Also present at the seminar were senior Al Fara’a Group officials, including Amr Al Banna, Group Director, HR and Administration, Al Fara'a Group and Eng. Ismail Mohammad, Area Manager (Dubai), Al Fara'a General Contracting Co. (LLC), along with Zohoor Hussain Al Sabbagh, Head of Clinic and Community Health Section, Public Health Department and a member of the PCLA.

“There has been a global recognition that the most potent solution to the widespread crisis created by HIV-related AIDS across the world is awareness, which can only be achieved by acquiring accurate information about the disease. As the global issue of AIDS is being combated through high profile information drives initiated by prominent organisations in different sectors of society, we would like to encourage all individuals to show compassion towards people who have contacted the virus, thereby lessening the social stigma that is very often associated with the disease. Through the important contributions by Dubai Police, UNICEF, PCLA and socially-aware corporations such as the Al Fara’a Group, we are taking a very important step towards educating the public on the prevention of AIDS and HIV,” said Dr. Gupta.

As part of the group’s initiatives to improve the welfare of its employees, Al Fara’a has launched this campaign to trigger the sense of responsibility of its people in protecting themselves against the virus. The leading construction services company has also expressed its keenness to further its CSR initiatives to tackle other health issues for the betterment of its employees. In addition to its reputation for delivering outstanding client value and executing prestigious projects in the UAE through the most advanced technology and multidisciplinary services, the Al Fara’a Group also aims to maintain a lasting impression as a socially-aware organisation.

“In our 27 years of experience in construction in the region, it has been our utmost commitment to support all global matters in health, business and education, as part of our responsibility to enrich the lives of the individuals who are a part of our operations as a leading full construction services group. We would also like to commend the continuous efforts of the Dubai Police and the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs in their moves towards achieving a better work environment for the labour force,” concluded Amr Al Banna, Group Director, HR and Administration, Al Fara'a Group.
