al hilal bank, one of the leading Islamic Banks in the UAE, today launched its "Spare.. ", commemorating Islam's holy month. The campaign includes; donating to the poor and unwell, sponsoring a Ramadan tent and sports events, producing a TV show and undertaking several other charitable initiatives.

Aimed at extending a helping hand to less fortunate members of society, the "Spare.. " campaign comes in line with al hilal's focus on meeting individuals' needs and the bank's responsibility towards society. The campaign is also aimed at promoting charitable values among members of community.

Commenting on the campaign, H.E. Ahmed Ateeq Al Mazrouei ِ, al hilal bank Chairman, said:

"al hilal bank continuously aspires to give back to the community and provide assistance to those who are less fortunate, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. This year, al hilal is hosting and sponsoring a wide range of charity, cultural and sporting activities and events that reflect the bank's commitment to society".

In an effort to demonstrate the impact of donations on needy individuals' lives, the bank sponsored and produced a TV series titled "Fa'el Al Khair" (Good Samaritan), which follows a number of people from underprivileged backgrounds who experience a change as a result of charity work conducted by more fortunate individuals with the sponsorship of al hilal bank. The show is aired on the Abu Dhabi-based Al-Dhafra channel daily during the month of Ramadan.

al hilal is sponsoring the 14th Armed Forces Officers Club (AFOC) Open Sports Festival for the second time, having sponsored the 12th edition of this event in 2008. The tournament, held under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, features various sporting events, such as; football, bowling, chess and boxing, in which around 3000 contestants of different nationalities will compete. AFOC Open Sports Festival's events kicked off on Sunday 15th of August, at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi.

al hilal will be also sponsoring the Abu Dhabi Police Ramadan tent on the Corniche in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of various Abu Dhabi Police Departments, Abu Dhabi Municipality and Abu Dhabi Heritage Club. As well, representatives from a number of charity organisations, such as the Red Crescent and Zakat Fund, will be present at the tent in special kiosks, in order to demonstrate to visitors exactly how their donations can significantly impact the lives of people in need.

For 10 days, 22 – 31 August, the Ramadan tent will host daily cultural and religious activities, as well as various contests and prizes. Alongside this there will be a heritage village, and traditional souq showcasing handmade crafts produced by local families. The Heritage Village is in line with the bank's effort to preserve culture and heritage in the UAE.

The bank will also be hosting a two-day charity fund-raiser alongside with Emirates Business Women Council, which will take place in the Emirates Palace starting on August 27th. This event will host a number of prominent members of society and seeks to raise funds through a traditional souq selling handmade crafts, with proceeds donated to charitable organisations.

Since its inception, al hilal bank has focused its efforts on serving and developing the community, provide job and training opportunities, as well as preserving traditions and heritage of the UAE.
