As the city of Dubai gears up to host the Public Relations Congress 2006 in September, the regional PR industry is abuzz with anticipation of the showcase event of the four-day conference – the Public Relations Excellence Award for the “PR Professional of the Year”.

The award, which seeks to provide a platform for PR professionals to come together and celebrate their achievements in creating, developing and managing effective PR strategies, has drawn tremendous response from among the PR community in the region. The award will showcase the best PR talent in the Middle East and will honour a PR professional for his/her outstanding contribution to the growth of the regional PR industry. The winner will be announced at a gala dinner on September 17, 2006, at the Park Hyatt Hotel, following the opening day of the PR Congress.

Entries for the “PR Professional of the Year Award” are invited through online registration forms that can be accessed at www.prcongress.com, and must be based upon specific projects or programmes that have taken place between the time frame of March 2005 to March 2006. The deadline for the entries is July 31, 2006, with the shortlist to be drawn up in early September.

“The PR industry in the region is gradually coming of age, and there is now a qualitative difference in the level of talent and professionalism. Through the Public Relations Excellence Award for the PR Professional of the Year, we seek to honour individuals who have been spearheading this change and have achieved tangible success for themselves, their organisations and clients,” said Jennie Bishop, Conference Manager, IIR Middle East.

The Public Relations Congress 2006 will be held from September 17 to 20, 2006 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Dubai. The event is the premier annual conference for the Middle East’s PR industry, bringing together leading regional and international PR experts and professionals to deliberate on the latest thinking and best practice in Public Relations. The event is organised by IIR Middle East in association with the Middle East Public Relations Association (MEPRA) and is sponsored by LG Electronics and MediaStow and the official PR partner is Orient Planet.
