Anonymous has blasted Turkey with a massive cyber-attack after accusing the Islamic nation of supporting ISIL [Daesh].

Last week, hacktivists fired the opening salvos in their war, bringing down up to 40,000 Turkish websites.

Now Anonymous has threatened to take down the vital systems which power the country's airports, banks and government facilities, as well as the "root servers" which are the foundation of Turkey's entire digital infrastructure, mirror reported.

In a statement, Anonymous said: "Turkey is supporting Daesh by buying oil from them, and hospitalizing their fighters.

"We won’t accept that Erdogan, the leader of Turkey, will help ISIL any longer.

"If you don’t stop supporting ISIL, we will continue attacking your internet."

Last week, hacktivists clobbered Turkey with a massive "DDoS attack" and has threatened to launch even more intense assaults.

"Stop this insanity now Turkey," Anonymous added.

"Your fate is in your own hands."
