Armed Palestinian forces deployed across the northern Gaza Strip on Friday to prevent rocket fire on Israeli targets.
The deployment came after Israel and the Palestinians renewed security contacts earlier this week. In parallel, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas is negotiating with armed groups to win their commitment to a truce, and his associates said he is making good progress.
According to The AP, about 3,000 members of the Palestinian security forces are to take up positions in the northern part of the Strip.
