Assad stresses importance of holding dialogue between Syria and the US

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Saturday discussed with U.S. Senator John Kerry the latest developments in the region, particularly the Iraqi arena. According to SANA, Al-Assad conveyed to the former US presidential hopeful "the importance of holding democratic elections in Iraq that secures the country’s unity, sovereignty and independence with the participation of all Iraqi people."

 

The two sides reviewed the bilateral relations between Syria and the U.S. and the importance of reaching common factors to cement those relations in all domains. In this regard, the Syrian president asserted the importance of dialogue between the two sides vis-à-vis all the raised issues, particularly issues of common interest.
