Avalanche Mobile, a world-leading developer of network-based SMS management technologies, has announced its expansion into the Middle East and Asia Pacific with the opening of new offices in Dubai and Singapore respectively.
By establishing offices on a permanent basis in both territories, Avalanche Mobile will target mobile operators in more mature markets including Singapore and Hong Kong, to offer a complete range of products ranging from anti-fraud and anti-SPAM to a suite of new ARPU enhancing products.  Its expansion will also provide them with an effective platform to target operators in emerging markets such as China, Indonesia and Vietnam all of which continue to embrace SMS as an effective communications tool.
“Our SMS management solutions appeal to both mature and emerging markets,” said Justin Call, Head of Development in Asia Pacific, Avalanche Mobile.  “Emerging markets like Vietnam, Indonesia and China present an exciting challenge for us.  The implementation of our technology in these territories will enable operators to optimise SMS delivery and safeguard effective revenue streams.”
Justin Call continues:  “Well established wireless markets including Hong Kong and Singapore recognise the value our SMS optimisation technology brings.  SMS represents up to 20% of total revenue for an operator but operating costs remain remarkably low. It’s the highest margin business the mobile operator owns yet many have ignored or cut back investment. Our product not only safeguards this valuable revenue stream but actually increases ARPU through the introduction of innovative SMS products.”
GSM uptake across the Arab World and Asia Pacific grew, in 2004, by 37.7% and 68.2%* respectively (* statistics from the GSM Association).
