An American soldier killed five of his comrades Monday afternoon inside a combat stress clinic at a large U.S. military base in Baghdad. Three other soldiers were wounded.
The killer was taken into custody shortly after the 2 p.m. shooting at Camp Liberty.
Earlier in the day, a senior traffic police officer was shot dead in central Baghdad. According to the AP, police said Brig. Gen. Abdul-Hussein al-Kadhoumi was driving a civilian car through al-Andalus square when he was attacked. Police conveyed the officer was on his way from his home in western Baghdad to the downtown traffic headquarters when he was shot dead.
