Batelco technicians are working "night and day" to solve a service disruption that left about 2,000 customers unable to access the internet, reported the Gulf Daily News.
Service should be restored to all customers by early next week, said corporate public relations manager Ali Sahwan.
The disruption, which began on Saturday, was due to technical difficulties resulting from changing to a new server, he added.
"These sorts of problems can come up from time to time," he said, adding that "There was a problem when we changed to the new system."
"We have to fix the disruption for each customer manually and there is a backlog of cases so it may take some time. We expect the problem to be resolved early next week, hopefully by Saturday or Sunday," he added.
The Inet helpdesk will open on Friday from 9:00am to 7:00pm, to clear as many cases as possible, said Sahwan.
The new system may have cut off services to about 2,000 customers because they had not paid their bills in full, he added.
However, Batelco's Inet customer service desk informed the paper that it was not related to bill payment.
"The switch caused a disruption, but it had nothing to do with unpaid bills," said an operator.
"The new server was not able to read some bill numbers." - Albawaba.com
