HE Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi will address members and guests of the British Business Group, Dubai and the Northern Emirates, (BBG), in one of her first presentations in Dubai as Minister for Foreign Trade.

Sheikha Lubna, who was formerly the Minister of Economy of the UAE, will discuss the UAE’s strategic vision and plan, as well as opening up the floor to questions from the audience.

The event, organised and hosted by the BBG and taking place on Thursday 27 March at The Monarch hotel in Dubai, will draw a large number of business people from Dubai and the surrounding Emirates.  Sheikha Lubna, the first woman in the UAE’s history to assume a cabinet position, was voted one of the 100 most powerful women in the world by Forbes magazine and included in The Times newspaper’s Gulf Power 25 List.

“We are honoured that HE Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi will be addressing the Group. Sheikha Lubna is a hugely respected figure in the Gulf region and around the world for her leading role in economic diversification and fostering trade relations with the UAE,” said Mark Beer, Chairman and CEO of the BBG.

“This will be one of Sheikha Lubna’s first addresses in her new role as Minister for Foreign Trade, and I know our members are very much looking forward to learning more from the Minister, and to having the opportunity to reinforce their commitment to strengthening economic and trade ties between the UAE and the UK.”

The BBG continues to attract world-class speakers to address the business community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.  The Group, which recently celebrated its 20th Anniversary and has more than 1,100 members, will welcome Sir John Parker, Deputy Chairman of DP World, Chairman of National Grid and a member of Gordon Brown’s Business Council for Britain, in April.

The BBG was set up in 1987 to encourage the development of British business in the UAE and undertakes a wide range of activities from communicating with decision makers and testing British goods to sharing best business practice.  The group holds around 80 networking events, forums and seminars each year, attracting high profile and influential business leaders and speakers from around the world.
