BenQ, the region’s leader in digital lifestyle products, is at the forefront of a surge in popularity for home theatre projectors across the Middle East.
Major regional markets such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia have witnessed a boom in demand for projectors which take home viewing to a new level in terms of quality and value for money. With the launch of W100, BenQ has successfully plugged the gap between cheaper entry level data projectors and expensive Professional Home Theatre models.
“The concept of home theatre projectors has grown hugely in recent years as their quality and affordability has made them very attractive to millions of people who want the cinema experience in their own home,” said Manish Bakshi, General Manager, BenQ Middle East and Africa.
“Projectors such as the W100 are an attractive option to those who want an entry level home theatre projector with excellent specifications at a price which is highly competitive,” he added.
BenQ has recorded exceptional growth in Saudi Arabia across its entire product range with demand particularly strong for its range of LCD TVs, digital projectors, and Joybook range of notebook computers.
BenQ leads the digital projector market in Saudi Arabia and registered a 26 per cent market share in 2005, according to research analysts Decision Tree Consulting.
Projector sales are particularly strong in the Saudi government and education sectors with BenQ’s nearest competitor commanding less than 13 per cent of the market in early 2006.
The BenQ W100 provides superb picture quality with natural motion, crisp details, and vibrant colors for the most realistic viewing experience.
The projector is supported by a wide range of digital video formats, including 480p, 576p, 720p, and 1080i, enabling it to work with many high-definition TV systems. Equipped with an exclusive off-axis optical system and aspherical glass lens, the W100 is able to output 1300 ANSI lumens, making it possible to clearly view the screen and enjoy a movie without dimming the lights completely.
In addition, the W100 achieves a consistently high contrast ratio of 2500:1 that makes dark portions of the screen look darker and bright portions look brighter – meaning a viewer can see a displayed object as though it were right there in front of their eyes.
The W100 contains a seven-segment color wheel (RGBRGBW) and advanced gamma adjustment technology to deliver optimum color rendering. Ten preset modes means a perfect picture for games and DVD movies is available at the click of a button.
Other cutting edge features include a cooling system to reduce noise to a minimum – ensuring nothing disturbs the viewing pleasure of a good movie. The wide range of ports also means video can be watched from nearly any source including personal computers, DVD players, digital camcorders, game consoles, and an HDTV set.
Two sets of component video jacks allows two different source devices to remain attached, sparing the hassle of attaching and detaching them and adding to the viewing pleasure by switching between them with the minimum of fuss.
The BenQ W100's remote control allows the user to fine-tune picture quality, switch aspect ratios, and select video sources by simply pressing a button without the need to navigate on-screen menus. And a handy illumination feature lights up the buttons for easy access even in the dark.
A major bonus is the fact that the BenQ provides up to 4,000 hours of long lamp life in eco-mode, making it virtually maintenance-free for years to come. The W100's DLPTM (Digital Light Processing) system overcomes the problem by utilizing a DMD (digital micro-mirror device) chip whose performance does not degrade easily over time. That means the W100 provides excellent image quality over the long term.
