The Rotary Club of Dubai, in conjunction with the Dubai Shopping Festival 2005, are set to launch the ‘Rotary Tsunami Tent Appeal’ to raise Dhs. 500 000 in order to purchase tents for those affected by the Tsunami disaster that took place in December 2004.

The Rotary Club plans to produce stickers and sell them for Dhs. 5 each to members of the public from 27 January at the Global Village in Dubai, with the hope of selling the stickers in various shopping malls across the Emirate.

“We are deeply indebted to the Dubai Shopping Festival 2005 for endorsing and assisting the Rotary Club in this project.  Together we will aim to make a notable difference in the lives of those affected by the Tsunami disaster,” said Brig Saeed Al Beleila,  president of the Rotary Club in Dubai and member of the Supeme committee, DSF.

All proceeds generated from the sale of the stickers will go towards purchasing tents that will be used to provide accommodation and  temporary  education facilities for those affected.  All the costs associated with the production of the stickers will be offset through sponsorship contributions from the Rotary Club, its members and private institutions.

The Rotary Club has been in existence for two years in Dubai and is an organization comprising business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help to build goodwill and peace across the UAE.
