Tony Blair, the vacationing British Prime Minister, unexpectedly crossed the Red Sea to Jordan Thursday for talks with King Abdullah on the Iraqi crisis and Middle East peace.

Blair, accompanied by his wife, Cherie, broke his Egyptian holiday for a second time to meet King Abdullah in Aqaba.

The Jordanian Petra news agency said the Blair-Abdullah talks concentrated on the latest developments in the Middle East and bilateral relations.

But government officials said both leaders discussed US war threats against Iraq, ways to end Palestinian-Israeli violence and ways to restart peace negotiations.

Blair and his wife flew to Aqaba from the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, where they are on holiday with their children.

On Wednesday night, Blair met the Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak unofficially to discuss "the Middle East peace process and Iraq," a British embassy spokesperson said, according to AFP. (Albawaba.com)
