Bouteflika opens mediation with Nigera, Senegal and South Africa

Algerian President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika has indicated that Nigeria, Sénégal and South Africa are conducting negotiations with Morocco and the Polisario Front – the two main parties in the Western Sahara conflict. 

 

Bouteflika who was in Johannesburg for the New African Development Partnership Forum, promised Algeria was committed to a resolution of the conflict. The President also declared that there can be no winners or losers in the conflict. He said Algeria was committed to the autonomy of the local peoples, just as it had in Belize, Timor and Surinam.  

 

Bouteflika also spoke at the development forum of the need to eradicate poverty and said that resolution of crises is the best path to development. (albawaba.com)
