In conclusion to Sabah Al Arabiya’s segment on the late stages of presenter Mayssoun Azzam’s pregnancy, Al Arabiya is offering viewers the chance to win $1000 USD by emailing their guess on the gender of Azzam’s bundle of joy.

Beginning August 8, 2005, the show followed Azzam four times a week from Saturday to Tuesday to give viewers an insider’s view on her struggle handling a demanding pregnancy with a typically hectic day at work.  In dedication to all pregnant women, Sabah Al Arabiya featured regular guests to offer insight on issues facing working pregnant women as well on tips for dieting and health.

Now, Sabah Al Arabiya is offering viewers the chance to win $1000 USD as a finale to the segment and in celebration of the birth of Azzam’s baby.  A draw will be held to pick five winners who will each win 1000 USD each for a total of 5 winners and 5000 USD.  Thus far Al Arabiya has received hundreds of responses with more expected to come.

“The segment became a forum for women to share their experiences and to gain valuable knowledge from others – it felt like a support group even a sisterhood,” said Azzam who was on her way to Dubai International Airport to catch a flight.

Viewers will have until September 1, 2005 to submit their guesses on the gender of the baby by email at mayssoun@alarabiya.net.  Winners will be announced on Sabah Al Arabiya following the birth of Azzam’s baby.

“It was very taxing doing the ‘Diary of a Pregnant Anchor’ especially in the last stages of the pregnancy . However, I felt I had a moral obligation to the viewers, especially because of the overwhelming response from the viewers,” said Azzam.
