A suspected car bomb detonated beside Yenibosna police station close to Istanbul's International Ataturk Airport on Thursday and has left at least one person seriously injured according to Turkish television and the Dogan news agency reports.

NTV television showed ambulances rushing to the scene and said security forces were deployed in the area.

Turkey has been the target of a spate of attacks in recent months. Often these attacks are blamed on the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militant group and some on Daesh.
