Third suspect Najim Laachraoui arrested

Third suspect from Brussels attacks Najim Laachraoui was arrested in Anderlecht by Belgian special forces, according to reports from Belgian news agency DH. 

Laachraoui's DNA had been extracted from explosive materials used during the Paris attacks which led to 130 deaths in November in Paris. The suspect left Syria in February 2013 and been wanted since December 4. 

Laachraoui passed through a checkpoint between Austria and Hungary using false identification with the name Soufiane Kayal, along with Salah Abdelsalam and Mohamed Belkaïd, an Algerian who was killed by police in Forest.

The Belgian suspect was born 18 May 1991 in Schaerbeek. He was evicted from his family home in February 2015 following his departure to Syria.

Laachraoui was one of the first Bruxelles-born fighters to have joined the "jihad" movement in Syria in 2012. He operated for Daesh under the fighter name "Abu Idriss". The militant is said to have convinced many of "his friends" to join the Daesh group.
