British Airways – the UK’s flagship carrier which operates a global network of over145 destinations – today (17th Decemebr) launches its winter schedule, which sees an additional six weekly flights on the Dubai - London Heathrow route.

Incorporating daily services from Abu Dhabi International, and 20 weekly flights from Dubai International, to Heathrow – the carrier’s weekly schedule from the UAE to London’s principal airport offers 27 travels options at all times of the day.

“The service increases are down to huge demand over the festive period. The start of our winter schedule today coincides with Eid tomorrow, and rolls right through Christmas, carrying on well into the New Year – all traditional holiday times,” said Paul Starrs, British Airways’ Commercial Manager, Middle East.

“And it is not just outbound.  We are seeing a lot of tourists from America and Europe transit through London before heading to both Dubai and Abu Dhabi for holiday breaks or business travel.

“Abu Dhabi’s growing tourism and business credentials are undoubtedly playing a part in ever-increasing load factors to the UAE capital, while in Dubai, the six additional weekly services speak for themselves in terms of the emirate’s importance to the airline.”

With 2007 marking the 75th anniversary of British Airways’ Middle East services, Starrs reaffirmed the carrier’s commitment to the UAE – and said another important milestone lands in the new year.

“We have a rich heritage of operating regionally, and we’ve witnessed and played our own part in the UAE’s unprecedented growth.  In July 2008 we will celebrate our 40th anniversary of services to Abu Dhabi International Airport - it is going to be another exciting year.”
