British helicopter crashes in Basra as Iraqi PM starts Arab tour

A British military helicopter on Monday crashed in Iraq, killing one British soldier and injuring two others. The craft came down inside an airstrip at Basra, Sky News reported. 

 

It has brought the British miltary's death toll since the start of the Iraq war to 60.  

 

Meanwhile, Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi expressed happiness over his visit to Jordan in the outset of his first Arab tour. 

 

In a statement to Jordan News Agency, Petra Allawi said that it is a "brotherly visit and we are happy to be here in Jordan." 

 

"We, in Iraq, are proud of Jordan's brotherly stand, which will be the base for having strong and developed relations between the two brotherly peoples," said Allawi, who also noted that the priority of the Iraqi government, in the coming stage, is to achieve security and stability, operate institutions and main services in Iraq such as, electricity and health in addition to the political and democratic process.
