ALBAWABA - Ali Shamkhani, a member of Iran’s Defense Council and a senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, was spotted in leaked footage at his daughter's lavish wedding inside one of the hotels in Tehran.
The video has sparked wide outrage among people in Iran and across the world as it marks his first appearance following Israel's assassination attempt that was carried out on June 13. Shamkhani survived, but he was severely injured, Iranian sources revealed.
In his first reaction to the leaked video from his daughter's wedding, the Iranian politician wrote on X in Hebrew, "As I said earlier: Hey you bastards, I'm still alive," referencing a quote from Papillon (1973), Iran International reported.
His daughter's wedding video was allegedly taken last April, and it quickly generated tens of thousands of views online.
Ali Shamkhani's daughter, Setayesh, was seen wearing a strapless dress that shows her cleavage, and his wife was spotted in a blue revealing dress. Moreover, other women in the video are not wearing the hijab.
Social media users criticized the huge extravagance of the party, as well as the return of morality police patrols to the streets, considering it evidence of discrimination and hypocrisy within the ruling regime, according to Iran International.
Comments on Iranian social media focused on the country's deteriorating economic situation and the suppression of Iranian women's freedom, particularly regarding the forced wearing of the hijab.
