A Cairo’s Main Vein, Al Azhar Street to become Pedestrian Exclusive

The governor of Cairo decided to ban cars after the Eid Fitr holiday to from using the Al Azhar Street in order to restrict its usage by pedestrians only, the daily Al Wafd reported. 

The governor announced his decision during his inauguration of a street north of the Egyptian district of Al Gamaliyah describing it as one of the key traffic substitutes for the Al Azhar Street. He added that the 1.2-kilometer alternative street cost reached seven million pounds including compensations for property confiscation -- Albawaba.com
