ALBAWABA - Citing worries over suspected weaponry smuggling, Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz has urged for an acceleration of wall building along the nation's border with Jordan.
Katz asserted in a written declaration that the Revolutionary Guards of Iran are working with Hamas in Lebanon to transfer weapons and cash from Jordan.
Katz said that hazardous weapons and substantial quantities of cash are being transported into the occupied West Bank from Jordan via Israel's eastern border, with the goal of forming an Iranian-backed force there. He made it clear that Tel Aviv and other heavily populated areas in Israel are the intended targets of this smuggling operation.
Given these worries, Katz called for the building of an eastern wall along the Jordanian border to be hastened in order to stop more weaponry smuggling.
Katz's accusations have not yet received an official reaction from Jordanian officials.
This appeal is made against the backdrop of escalating hostilities in the area, where since Israel began an invasion on the Gaza Strip on October 7, there have been more arrests, raids, and attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Since then, Israeli troops and settlers have attacked Palestinians in these locations, resulting in 620 Palestinian deaths and over 5,000 injuries.
