Canon Middle East, the world-leading innovator and provider of imaging products and solutions, has announced the winners of its regional photography competition titled “Celebrating My City”. With more than 40 entries from Jordan, Samer Al Khoury was announced as one of the 13 winners for his photograph titled ‘My Silhouetted Princess’.
The annual Canon photography competition encouraged photographers of all abilities to submit a metropolis inspired image from the region for a chance to win a state of the art DSLR Canon camera – the EOS 500 D or a Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II professional photo printer.
“Canon Middle East is committed to supporting photography in the region and making it accessible to all. The quality of imagery submitted from Jordan was very high and showcased the entrants’ photographic skills, with many of the entries managing to capture the spirit of their city. The Canon competition has inspired the imagination and creativity of thousands of passionate photographers from across the region, and enabled them to capture and showcase the best of their city using the power of image,” said Hendrik Verbrugghe, B2C Marketing Manager, Canon Middle East.
The quality of entries from across the region made the judging process difficult for the independent on-line panel of experts which consisted of well known photo editors and photographers.
“While congratulating our winners, we would also like to recognise other talented photographers who submitted images to make this competition a real success. As the brand that revolutionised consumer D-SLR photography, we are thrilled to see how much photographic talent the MENA region, and Jordan in particular, is producing,” concluded Verbrugghe.
