The Cards Middle East 2006 conference and exhibition, organized by Terrapinn, kicked off today at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai. Established for seven years, the forum gathers leading regional experts from retail banks, payment associations and technology providers to focus on the challenges facing the Middle East cards market.

“Our aim is to create new business opportunities. The Middle East’s cards industry needed a forum at which the most recent technologies, strategies, and products could be presented by the industry’s leaders.” said Ed Haines, Conference Director for Cards Middle East, Terrapinn. “Last year’s conference and exhibition was again a fantastic success with over 1,250 attendees and very positive feedback.  It’s a clear indication that this highly energetic market is keen to maintain fast growth and thrives on competition.”
Cards Middle East, the two day event, consists of prominent speakers who discuss various topics such as cards innovation in the region, surviving in an ultra competitive marketplace, leveraging EMV implementation to enhance customer value and accelerating regional growth. Key speakers, on the first day, included representatives from the international banks and payment associations including MasterCard, American Express, JCB, First National Bank, Standard Chartered Bank and many others.

“We are delighted to be able to bring Cards Middle East back to Dubai for the 7th year. CME outlines ways of building and accelerating new revenues, enhancing retention levels and tapping profitable new market segments,” added Haines. “Cards Middle East will essentially give banks the fundamental tools needed to ensure their businesses thrive in 2006. It creates an experience that goes beyond learning and networking, becoming the prime business generation opportunity in the Middle East cards market.”

The conference had a free exhibition running along with it, featuring an on-floor seminar theater, where visitors were able to attend educational seminars to discover about the latest products and services from all the top suppliers in the region. The exhibition will also take place on Tuesday May 23rd from 10:00 am to 5:00pm to discuss key business ideas from professionals at the cutting edge of new technology.

Cards Middle East is organised by Terrapinn, organisers of other regional finance & investment conferences such as: Hedge Funds World Middle East, Commodity Investment World Middle East, Asset Allocation Summit Middle East, Funds World Middle East, Islamic Funds World and Private Equity World MENA, among others.
