Chartis Appoints Makoto Ozeki Chief Operating Officer of Chartis Far East Holdings

 Chartis today announced the appointment of Makoto (“Mike”) Ozeki to the newly created position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Chartis Far East Holdings, strengthening management oversight of Chartis in the Far East Region (Japan and Korea). Mr. Ozeki will be responsible for overseeing group business operations for Chartis’ Japan insurance companies, including AIU Insurance Company Japan Branch, American Home Assurance Company Japan Branch and JI Accident & Fire Insurance Company.

Mr. Ozeki joins Chartis from Zurich Insurance Company Japan, where he served as Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Zurich, he served in a variety of executive positions within AIG in Japan and Korea, including Regional Chief Financial Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of AIG Star Life Insurance Co.; and Chief Marketing Officer of AIU Insurance Company Japan Branch. In his role as Regional CFO of AIG Companies Japan & Korea, Mr. Ozeki was involved in various M&A activities, and also led AIG strategic alliance projects with Orix Corporation and Fuji Fire and Marine Insurance. A graduate of the Tokyo Metropolitan University, Mr. Ozeki first joined AIG in 1975.
