A 40-strong convoy of proud Chevrolet and GMC truck owners drove their pickups from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi, where they were treated to dinner, followed by awards for the top GMC Sierra Denali, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 3500 HD, on June 25th.

"Chevrolet and GMC pickup truck owners in the Middle East are very niche and loyal customers, many of whom like to express themselves by personalizing their vehicles. We wanted to show them our appreciation and reward them for their efforts by organising an event that was about them, and for them," said Luay Al Shurafa, Regional Brand Manager of Chevrolet and GMC, GM Middle East.

After meeting at the Al Hilli wedding hall in Al Ain, the Chevrolet and GMC pickup truck owners drove for around an hour to reach the Abu Dhabi Officers' Club, where a dinner was held in their honour, and prizes were awarded to winners in three categories: GMC Sierra Denali, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 3500 HD. Rashid Al Nasseri received a voucher for AED 2,000 worth of accessories for his GMC Sierra Denali, while Ahmad Al Zahry and Ali Al Johar each were rewarded with a premium Tissot timepiece for their Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 3500 HD respectively.

Talking about the modifications he made to his winning GMC Sierra Denali, Rashid Al Nasseri said "I chose a GMC because you can modify it as much as your imagination allows you. The first thing that attracts most people's attention are the scissor-style doors that go up. Then there's the sporty rear spoiler, the Cadillac Escalade kit and the crystal which replaces all the emblems."

Ahmed Al Zahry, who won for his Chevrolet Silverado 1500, said "I took part in this event because I love powerful vehicles and the feeling of driving on the open highway. But the best part of it was sharing it with other people who feel exactly the way I do. I only wish that we could take part in an event of this size more than once a year."

"I would like to thank Bin Hamoodah, Chevrolet and GMC for inviting me, as this event is a good indicator that there are more events like this to come. People like myself will definitely look forward to another event like this, and we'll definitely tell our friends and family all about it," said Ali Al Johar, who won with his GMC Sierra 3500 HD.
