New at this year’s awards, is the ‘Young Architect Award’ seeking to encourage and reward promising local student talent.

Rohan Marwaha, Managing Director, Cityscape said, “No industry can survive without nurturing local promise and providing career opportunities for creative talent to flourish.”

The initial evaluation criteria will separate entries into ‘Built’ projects - those already complete and ‘Future’ projects - those incomplete or still on the drawing board, with planning approval or a confirmed client.

Both ‘built’ and ‘planned’ entries will then be split into five categories covering
commercial or mixed use, community which includes religious and public buildings, leisure, residential and finally tourism, travel & transport. A further three ‘Special Awards’ will also be given for contribution to the environment, Islamic architecture and master planning.

The Awards will be judged by a team of eminent and internationally acclaimed architects and industry figureheads who will gather in mid-September to select a shortlist from the nominations. The independence of the jury will ensure transparency in the judging process ensuring winners will be worthy recipients of the highly coveted awards.

“The Cityscape Architectural Awards have now set the global industry standard. They are eagerly anticipated and have always been keenly contested, which is a tribute to the astonishing array of talent that the judges are continually confronted with,” added Marwaha.
