Israeli Political officials expected that US President Bill Clinton is considering a visit to the Middle East in the coming days in an effort to forge a breakthrough in talks between Palestinians and Israelis, reported Radio Israel on Wednesday.
The radio said that during a phone call last weekend with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Clinton did not rule out arriving to the region.
Meanwhile, Haaretz added that Secretary of State Madeline Albright and Middle East Envoy Dennis Ross might also arrive in the region.
On Tuesday, Ross held a meeting with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat in Rabat in an attempt to revive the peace talks, according to press reports.
The Jerusalem Post newspaper quoted a Palestinian official as saying that Ross failed to achieve any breakthrough during his meeting with Arafat -- Albawaba.com
