Dubai, UAE, September 28, 2010: Members of the American Business Council (ABC) in Dubai and their employees were offered free health screenings at the organisation’s first ever Community Health Fair. The morning event, which was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road, yesterday (Tuesday), was supported by Green Crescent Insurance Company (GCIC), with the aim of showing that good health is inextricably linked to good business.

“Ensuring that employees remain in good health should be a vital operations strategy for any business,” said Carl Sardegna, CEO of GCIC. “It has been proven that individuals who are fit and healthy take fewer days off sick from work and are more productive. Ultimately, on a larger scale, companies with healthy and happy employees will contribute positively to a country’s economy,” he added.

The Health Fair offered healthcare advice and check-ups to members provided by The City Hospital and RAK Hospital, including blood pressure checks, blood glucose monitoring, body mass index checks and cholesterol level measurements. A healthy breakfast was served for those attending the event, which started at 7:30am. Carl Sardegna, also gave a presentation about GCIC’s exciting health initiatives.

“Our partnership with Green Crescent Insurance Company in this First Annual Community Health Fair is part of a drive to have health and wellbeing at the centre of business life in the UAE,” said Cara Nazari, Executive Director, ABC. “The American Business Council works with many high profile businesses in Dubai and we are aiming to lead the way for other organisations to promote the importance of good health in the workplace,” she added.
